The baseball team (13-11) swept Schenectady County Community College (10-8) in a doubleheader, 1-0 and 10-8, on Thursday afternoon.
Bryan Lajeunesse (Albany Academy/Watervliet) continues to dominate on the mound for the Vikings, pitching a complete game shutout with six strikeouts. Nick Papas (Maple Hill/Castleton) and Luke Burns (Delaware Academy/Bovina) each went 1-3 at the plate in the win.
In game two, Schenectady made a late rally but was shut down by Josh Johnson (Tamarac/Wynantskill) in the seventh inning. Johnson got into trouble loading the bases with one out leading by only two runs, but forced two consecutive ground outs to end the game. Tyler Young (Shaker/Latham) led the Vikings going 4-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Jake DePietro (Kingston/Kingston) recorded two doubles and three RBIs and Chris Massaroni (Voorheesville/Voorheesville) went 2-3 with a double and two RBIs.
The Vikings travel to Mohawk Valley Community College on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
